The City Council approved Bid No. 2023-057, Utility Relocation for IH-635 at US Highway 80 Interchange, with BRCT, LLC dba Black Rock Construction on June 20, 2023, in the amount of $3,728,992.00.
Change Order No. 1 is in the amount of $100,264.57 and is required to perform an open cut across Galloway Avenue to locate a North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) 14-inch water line. This work will be performed in short sections with a vacuum truck so that no exposed utilities are damaged. An additional 120 calendar days will be added to this contract for the additional work required.
Change Order No. 2 is in the amount of $4,700.32 and is required for the removal of a fire hydrant to install gate valves per the plan revision.
Change Order No. 3 is in the amount of $57,352.32 and is required for a revised water line bore across Galloway Avenue at a lower depth.
The revised contract amount is $3,891,309.21 (Total of $3,728,992.00 + three change order amounts).
Financial Implications
The project is budgeted from Water/Sewer Revenue and fully reimbursable by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) after completion of the work. TxDOT has concurred with these Change Orders.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute Change Order Nos. 1, 2, and 3 to Bid No. 2023-057, Utility Relocation for IH-635 at US Highway 80 Interchange.
