City Lake Aquatic Center, located at 200 Parkview Street, was constructed in 1998 to replace the original swimming pool from the 1950's in the same location. The pool complex contains a lap pool with water slide, a kiddie pool with water features, restrooms, office building and an equipment building. After 25 years, components of the facility are showing signs of deterioration and excessive wear. Much of the equipment has surpassed its useful life, requiring an upgrade in order to maintain quality water and comply with current aquatic standards and regulations.
On November 6, 2023, Sunbelt Pools, Inc., was awarded Bid No. 2023-116, to refurbish and update specific areas of the facility. Their scope of work includes replastering the pools, replacing the kiddie spray feature equipment and upgrading the mechanical and filtration systems. Outside of Sunbelt's scope are additional amenities that need updating including the electrical service, ADA compliance, new handrails and perimeter fencing.
For the additional scope of work, bid documents were broadcast through the Periscope Holdings electronic bidding system, posted on the City's website and advertised in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper. Five responses were received and scored utilizing the established Best Value evaluation criteria. PBS Construction, LLC received the highest score. The contractor proposed a cost of $260,325.00. Construction is scheduled for completion prior to opening for summer in May 2024.
