This purchase of fire protective bunker gear will be issued to members of the Mesquite Fire Department (MFD), as indicated by MFD's standard operating procedures and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1851. This practice provides each firefighter with two sets of fire protective clothing, in accordance with the Department’s cancer prevention initiative.
The MFD anticipates purchasing additional fire protective clothing for new recruits totaling $53,531.65 (difference between quote and bid amount).
Financial Implications
The purchase of firefighter protective clothing was approved in the FY2023-24 Operating Budget.
