The Fire Department currently staffs seven full-time ambulances and one peak-time ambulance. This ambulance is for the new Fire Station No. 8 and will bring the operating fleet to eight full-time ambulances.
The Horton Model 603 Ford F-550 Ambulance, as manufactured by Southern Emergency Rescue Vehicle Sales (SERVS), meets and exceeds all current safety and cleanliness standards. SERVS was the only manufacturer who was able to deliver an ambulance in time for the opening of Fire Station No. 8. Other manufacturer’s lead times are at least 24 months out. This Ford F-550 ambulance is a stock ambulance that the Fire Department is able to customize to the fleet.
