Body
The City of Mesquite is applying to the Texas Historical Commission to become a Certified Local Government (CLG). The CLG program provides resources and potential access to funding to support historic preservation. Part of the application process requires a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Certification Agreement for the CLG program and to officially appoint a Historic Preservation Officer (HPO). It is appropriate for the HPO to be the Manager of Historic Preservation and Executive Director of Historic Mesquite, Inc., Toyia Pointer.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
