Ratification of the total expenditure of $289,553.00, without competitive bidding, for the emergency repair sewer line that serves East Cartwright Road and authorizing payment to North Texas Contracting, Inc. for such repairs.

On or about June 17, 2024, the sewer main under East Cartwright Road, behind the properties on Boardwalk Drive, collapsed in two locations. The repair was too extensive for the City of Mesquite to handle internally. Therefore, City of Mesquite hired North Texas Contracting, Inc., to make the repair.
This sewer line replacement also met the exemption requirements for emergency projects under Section 252.022(a)(2) of the Texas Local Government Code, “a procurement necessary to preserve or protect the public health or safety of the municipalities residents.”
Financial Implications
The City’s cost of $289,553.00 was paid out of the Water & Sewer fund balance.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the ratification.
