Consider appointment of four Regular Members (Position Nos. 1, 3, 5 and 7) and one Alternate Member (Alternate No. 1) to the Planning and Zoning Commission/Airport Zoning Commission for terms to expire December 31, 2027.
Body
Currently, the Planning and Zoning Commission/Airport Planning Commission has two vacancies - Regular Member (Position No. 1) and Alternate Member (Alternate No. 1). Regular Members Roger Melend (Position No. 3), Rick Cumby (Position No. 5) and Soira Teferi (Position No. 7) are eligible for reappointment and have agreed to serve another term, if appointed. All members serve alternating two-year terms with a limit of three terms.
Alternate members shall attend at least one meeting every six months.
The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of seven regular members and two alternates appointed by the City Council. The Commission is charged with hearing, recommending, or determining any matter relating to land use issues, including planning, zoning, subdivision plats, changes to the Zoning Ordinance and amendments to and update of the Comprehensive Plan and any other items related to the physical development of the City, as may be specified or required under the Mesquite Zoning Ordinance, the Charter or the laws of the State.
