Consider appointment of four Regular Members (Position Nos. 1, 3, 5 and 7) to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board/Tree Advisory Board and one Alternate Member (Alternate No. 1) for terms to expire December 31, 2025.
Body
Currently, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board/Tree Advisory Board has one vacancy for Regular Member (Position No. 1). Regular Members Steve Bragg (Position No. 3), Debbie Coolidge (Position No. 5) and Fred Poe (Position No. 7) and Alternate Member Lara Nix (Alternate No. 1) are eligible for reappointment and have agreed to serve another term, if appointed. All members serve alternating two-year terms with a limit of three terms.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is charged with the responsibility of acting as the voice of the community to advise the Parks and Recreation Department and City Council on the specific interests in community parks and recreation facilities, services, and programs. Members should promote public awareness of the services provided by the City and encourage community participation. Members of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board also serve on the Tree Advisory Board.
The Tree Advisory Board is charged with the responsibility of verifying that Parks and Recreation staff is to make recommendations, advise and assist in the promotion and implementation of the City’s tree planting program.
Alternate members shall attend at least one meeting every six months.
