Consider appointment of one Regular Member (Position No. 4) to the Planning and Zoning Commission/Capital Improvements Advisory Committee/Airport Zoning Commission for a term to expire December 31, 2024, and one Alternate Member (Alternate No. 1) for a term to expire December 31, 2025, or one Alternate Member (Alternate No. 2) for a term to expire December 31, 2024.

Currently, the Planning and Zoning Commission has one vacancy for a Regular Member (Position No. 4) due to the resignation of Dr. Michael Fulton. A new member may be appointed directly to the vacant position for Regular Member (Position No. 4), or Alternate Member No. 1 or No. 2 may be moved to the vacant position for Regular Member (Position No. 4) and the Alternate Member position filled with a new member.
The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of seven regular members and two alternate members appointed by the City Council. The Commission is charged with hearing, recommending, or determining any matter relating to land use issues, including planning, zoning, subdivision plats, changes to the Zoning Ordinance and amendments to and update of the Comprehensive Plan and any other items related to the physical development of the City, as may be specified, or required under the Mesquite Zoning Ordinance, the Charter, or the laws of the State.
Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission also serve on the Capital Improvements Advisory Committee, which advises the City Council on matters pertaining to impact fees, and the Airport Zoning Commission, which is required under State law to address zoning regulations and specific land use issues associated with the Mesquite Metro Airport.
