The City Council adopted the following Ordinances establishing Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones (TIRZ):

                     Ordinance No. 3138 on February 3, 1997 - Mesquite Rodeo City Reinvestment Zone Number One

                     Ordinance No. 3257 on September 21, 1998 - Towne Centre Reinvestment Zone Number Two

                     Ordinance No. 4401 on November 2, 2015 - Skyline Tax Increment Finance Reinvestment Zone No. Seven

                     Ordinance No. 4402 on November 2, 2015 - Gus Thomasson Tax Increment Finance Reinvestment Zone No. Eight

                     Ordinance No. 4525 on December 4, 2017 - Reinvestment Zone Number Ten (Polo Ridge), City of Mesquite, Texas

                     Ordinance No. 4532 on December 18, 2017 - Reinvestment Zone Number Eleven (Heartland Town Center), City of Mesquite, Texas

                     Ordinance No. 4579 on July 2, 2018 - Reinvestment Zone Number Twelve (IH-20 Business Park), City of Mesquite, Texas

                     Ordinance No. 4713 on September 16, 2019 - Reinvestment Zone Number Thirteen (Spradley Farms), City of Mesquite, Texas

                     Ordinance No. 4853 on April 5, 2021 - Reinvestment Zone Number Fourteen (Alcott Logistics Station), City of Mesquite, Texas

                     Ordinance No. 4869 on June 7, 2021 - Reinvestment Zone Number Fifteen (Solterra), City of Mesquite, Texas

 

The City Council appoints seven members to each TIRZ Board of Directors to serve two-year terms.

 

The board members whose terms will expire on December 31, 2023, include:

 

Daniel Alemán, Jr., Chairperson                     Kenny Green

Debbie Anderson                     B.W. Smith

Tandy Boroughs                     Jennifer Vidler

Jeff Casper

 

Due to the recent City Council election, former Councilmembers Jennifer Vidler and Debbie Anderson are being replaced with newly elected Councilmembers Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross and Brandon Murden. 

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends appointment of Daniel Alemán, Jr., Tandy Boroughs, B.W. Smith, Jeff Casper, Kenny Green, Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross, and Brandon Murden to the Board of Directors of each TIRZ Board listed above for terms to expire December 31, 2025.
