Consider appointment of three Regular Members (Position Nos. 2, 4 and 6) to the Mesquite Quality of Life Corporation (MQOLC) Board of Directors for terms to expire December 31, 2026, who will also serve on the Mesquite Economic Development Advisory (MEDA) Board.
Body
Regular Members Nadine Ward (Position No. 2), Homero Lopez (Position No. 4) and Tom Palmer (Position No. 6) are eligible for reappointment and have agreed to serve another term, if appointed. All members serve alternating two-year terms with a limit of three terms.
The Mesquite Quality of Life Corporation (MQOLC) Board of Directors consists of seven members appointed by the City Council. MQOLC is authorized to study and fund permissible projects, limited to Transportation, Public Safety and Public Parks and Recreation.
The Mesquite Economic Development Advisory (MEDA) Board consists of the same members of the MQOLC Board of Directors to serve in an advisory capacity regarding Mesquite development initiatives, programs and other economic development related projects.
On April 4, 2023, the MEDA Board was created by Ordinance No. 4951 and Council approved Resolution No. 16-2022, repealing the “second bylaws” of the MQOLC and replacing with the “third bylaws.” In accordance with the “third bylaws” of the MQOLC and Chapter 20, Article V, of the City Code, terms were aligned with other City Boards.
