Consider appointment of four Regular Members (Position Nos. 1, 3, 5 and 7) to the Mesquite Quality of Life Corporation Board of Directors for terms to expire December 31, 2025, who will also serve on the Mesquite Economic Development Advisory Board.

Currently, the Mesquite Quality of Life (MQOLC) Corporation Board of Directors has two vacancies for regular members (Position Nos. 3 and 5), who will also serve as members of the Mesquite Economic Development Advisory Board (MEDA). Lisa Theriot (Position No. 2) and Ron Ward (Position No. 7) are eligible for reappointment and have agreed to serve another term, if appointed. All members serve alternating two-year terms with a limit of three terms.
The MQOLC Board of Directors consists of seven members appointed by the City Council. The Corporation is authorized to study and fund permissible project, limited to Transportation, Public Safety and Public Parks and Recreation.
The MEDA Board consists of the same members of the MQOLC Board of Directors to serve in an advisory capacity regarding Mesquite development initiatives, programs and other economic development related projects.
On April 4, 2023, the MEDA Board was created by Ordinance No. 4951 and Council approved Resolution No. 16-2022, repealing the “second bylaws” of the MQOLC and replacing with the “third bylaws.” In accordance with the “third bylaws” of the MQOLC and Chapter 20, Article V, of the City Code, terms were aligned with other City Boards.
