Body

The City of Mesquite and the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) have been sharing funding of a Click It or Ticket Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) to promote roadway safety. The proposed grant will provide funding to hire off-duty officers on an overtime basis to detect and apprehend seat-belt violators on city roadways.

The Traffic Safety Grant is a single year seatbelt Safety Grant to cover Fiscal Year 2020-2021. The State will participate in the amount of $3,990.57 to be supplemented by City funds in the amount of $1,000.76. City funds are included in the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 budget.

Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
