Title
An ordinance amending Chapter 9 “Motor Vehicle and Traffic” of the Mesquite City Code thereby adding additional authorized City enforcement agents related to parking violations and revising presumptions.
Body
The proposed amendments to the administration and enforcement of Chapter 9 are to allow other City officials other than peace officers to enforce on-street parking violations. This amendment will also alleviate police from being the only response for these concerns and assist in decreasing their response times to priority calls.
Proposed amendment includes:
• Addition of subsection (b) to Section 9-38 authorizing enforcement agents for parking violations.
• Revising Section 9-41 with new “Presumptions”
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the ordinance.
