Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a Professional Engineering Services Contract with LJB, Inc., for Sam Houston Road, Millie Drive, and Rhonda Drive Water Main Replacements in the amount of $249,465.00.

This design contract involves the preparation of construction plans to replace 5,830 linear feet of water mains as follows:
• 4,300 linear feet of water main in the right-of-way of Sam Houston Road, from Military Parkway to the end of the existing water main just south of the railroad crossing.
• 850 linear feet of water main on Millie Drive from the US 80 frontage road to Vickie Street.
• 680 linear feet of water main on Rhonda Drive from the US 80 frontage road to Vickie Street.
• The construction plans will include the replacement of all fire hydrants, water valves, water services to the meters, and other water line appurtenances along the section of water line. In addition, the construction plans will include the replacement of the water meter and meter vault for the Fritz Industries, Inc. at 500 North Sam Houston Road.
• All water main replacement is planned to go outside of paving limits.
In addition to design services, the contract includes bid phase and construction phase support to assist the City throughout project advertisement, contractor procurement, construction and City of Dallas Coordination.
Financial Implications
Funding for this project has been allocated with Water and Sewer Funds.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute a Professional Engineering Services Contract with LJB, Inc.
