The purchase of a replacement Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Bomb Squad Robot will aid the Mesquite Fire Department (MFD) in the response, detection, and render safe operations of EOD/Improvised Explosive Device (IED) incidents. MFD bomb squad has conducted extensive testing to determine the best robot model for this project.  Allowing MFD Bomb Squad to maintain Type 1 designation, it will also target the response to active shooter, acts of terrorism, IED, and any surveillance issues in small, contained areas. Backpacks, shipping containers, and other small, tight spaces are becoming more common in the response area.

 

Financial Implications

This purchase will be funded by grant funds (Grant No. 4895801).
