Title
Consider appointment of four Regular Members (Position Nos. 1, 3, 5, and 7) to the Building Standards Board for terms to expire December 31, 2027, and one Regular Member (Position No. 6) for a term to expire December 31, 2026.
Body
Currently, the Building Standards Board has two vacancies - Regular Members (Position Nos. 6 and 7) - Fire Certification. Regular Members Edward Nichols V (Position No. 1), Scott Gibb (Position No. 3) and George Valdez (Position No. 5) and Alternate Member John Funderburk (Alternate No. 1) are eligible for reappointment and have agreed to serve another term, if appointed. All members serve alternating two-year terms with a limit of three terms.
Alternate members shall have one or more of the qualifications required for regular members and shall attend at least one meeting every six months.
The Building Standards Board consists of seven regular members and two alternates appointed by the City Council. The Board is charged with responsibility for hearing appeals from decisions of the Building Official and reviewing changes to the City's model building codes.
