The project will include new flooring, new ceiling tiles, upgrading the lights to energy efficient LED, new front desk area, restroom upgrades, and painting throughout. Similar improvements will be made in the gymnasium including motorizing the retractable basketball backboards.
The renovation project will be performed during Mesquite Independent School District's (MISD) 2021 summer break, commencing in late May, and completing in early August 2021. A total Project Budget of $475,000.00 has been allocated from the Mesquite Quality of Life Corporation. This includes a $40,000.00 reimbursement from MISD towards the updates in the gymnasium. Separate expenditures are anticipated for asbestos abatement, demolition and the installation of a synthetic sports court surface in the gymnasium.
