Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a Professional Engineering Services Contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc., a Texas Corporation, for Peachtree Road at Bruton Road Intersection Improvements, in the amount of $689,718.00.

Body

This design contract consists of the re-analysis of the intersection of Peachtree Road, Bruton Road, and Sam Houston Road to accommodate the City's need for a standard four-leg intersection. The design will evaluate the intersection to determine the appropriate project limits based on the required transition lengths between the proposed typical roadway sections and the existing roadway sections.

The proposed improvements include reconstructing Peachtree Road as a two-lane roadway with dedicated turn lanes within the existing 100-foot right-of-way and reconstructing Bruton Road as a four-lane roadway with dedicated turn lanes within the existing 100-foot right-of-way.

In addition to the design services, the contract includes bid phase and construction phase support to assist the City throughout project advertisement, contractor procurement, and construction.  The project scope has increased based on an initial study identifying the need for drainage improvements and an optimal signal and intersection configuration.

Financial Implications

Funding for this project has been allocated through the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and will be provided from Certificates of Obligation (CO) funds.
