Title
A resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an Interlocal Agreement with Region 16 Service Center, which serves as the sponsor of TexBuy, a Cooperative Purchasing Program, for goods and services for the purpose of participating in their cooperative purchasing program.
Body
Municipalities are authorized under Chapter 791, Texas Governmental Code, to contract with other local governments, including nonprofit corporations, to perform governmental functions and services. These functions and services include routine operations of government such as interlocal cooperative purchasing agreements.
The purpose of this Interlocal Agreement (ILA) is to authorize participation between the City of Mesquite and the Region 16 Service Center in various contracts for the purchase of goods and services. The City has participated in several cooperative purchasing ILAs in the past and is currently presented with the opportunity to partner with the Region 16 Service Center. Participation in the ILA satisfies the competitive bidding process and saves staff time and resources. Participation does not require a commitment to purchase specific items but provides each entity the opportunity to utilize bids of the other entity, as it deems appropriate.
