As set forth in the plans and specifications, this project consists of reconstruction of approximately 145-linear feet of retaining wall up to four-feet in height, along with the associated sidewalk.  Additionally, the project includes the construction of approximately 600-linear feet of new sidewalk along North Bryan-Belt Line Road and East Grubb Drive.  The reconstruction of the retaining wall in this area was necessitated due to structural failure in multiple locations.

 

This project is anticipated to begin in February 2025, with substantial 90-day completion in May 2025.

 

Bid notices were broadcast through the BidNet Direct electronic procurement system, posted on the City’s website, and published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper.  A total of four responsive bids were received.  Staff has reviewed the bidder’s qualifications and recommends award of the base bid to low bidder Niyam, LLC dba Niyam Construction, in the amount of $152,257.68.

 

Financial Implications

This project is budgeted from the Capital Budget with funds allocated for Street and Alley Maintenance.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute a contract with low bidder Niyam, LLC dba Niyam Construction.
