A resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Election Services Contract with Dallas County on behalf of the Dallas County Elections Administrator in connection with the Special and General Election to be held November 4, 2025.
Body
This contract with Dallas County on behalf of the Dallas County Elections Administrator will provide election services to Mesquite registered voters, currently 77,143, who reside in Dallas County for the General Election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and Councilmembers for Places 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and a Special Election for the purpose of submitting a proposed tax rate that exceeds the voter-approval tax rate for the 2025 tax year to be held November 4, 2025.
Political subdivisions holding an election on the November uniform election date are required to use county election precincts and polling places. Dallas County Elections Department utilizes Countywide Vote Centers. City of Mesquite residents, who are registered voters in Dallas County, may vote at any Early Voting and Election Day Vote Center.
The contract provides for:
* Participation by seven entities and Dallas County for Constitutional Amendments.
* Responsibilities of the Dallas County Elections Administrator and participating entities.
* Estimated election cost for the City of Mesquite, which is $287,921.20.
* Hours and locations for Early Voting (approximately 70 Vote Centers countywide with three of these locations being located in the City of Mesquite at (1) Dallas County Mesquite Government Center, 500 South Galloway Ave.; (2) Florence Recreation Center, 2501 Whitson Way; and (3) Eastfield Campus - Dallas College, 3737 Motley Drive).
* Locations for Election Day Voting (approximately 453 Vote Centers countywide)
Financial Implications
Election costs are budgeted as Professional Services in the City Secretary Department's budget.
