Title

A resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Wylie to establish a cooperative purchasing program between the two cities.

Body

Municipalities are authorized under Chapter 791, Texas Governmental Code, to contract with other local governments, including nonprofit corporations, to perform governmental functions and services.  These functions and services include routine operations of government such as interlocal cooperative purchasing agreements.

The purpose of this Interlocal Agreement (ILA) is to authorize participation between the City of Mesquite and the City of Wylie in various contracts for the purchase of goods and services. The City has participated in several cooperative purchasing ILAs in the past and is currently presented with the opportunity to partner with the City of Wylie.  Participation in the ILA will be beneficial to the taxpayers of each city through anticipated savings to be realized. Participation does not require a commitment to purchase specific items but provides each city the opportunity to utilize bids of the other city, as it deems appropriate.

Contract categories include but not limited to the following:

                     Technology-related Products

                     Facility and Construction

                     Consulting Services

                     Small Tools and Equipment

                     Medical Equipment and Supplies
