As part of the Clean City Initiative, one of the recommendations in the Action Plan was to purchase a street sweeper and/or a litter collection machine to clean up litter on city streets and in public places. In September 2021, the City received an additional $82,714.00 in grant funds from the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Solid Waste Grant Program, administered through the North Central Texas Council of Governments. After researching available litter collection equipment, Staff recommends the purchase of an All-Terrain Litter Vacuum Machine with Hydraulic Arm, Model LN50, from Madvac.

This machine is street legal while being versatile enough to allow for a more concentrated area of clean up in all areas of public use or public events and celebrations. The LN50 Litter Vacuum has a 15-foot retractable hose for hard-to-reach areas. A CDL permit is not required to operate this machine and it will be used by the Solid Waste Division to safely and efficiently clean city sidewalks, streets, parks, curbs, medians, parking lots and public areas with excess litter. From concrete to grass, the Madvac Litter Vacuum can tackle all types of urban terrain with ease.  The quote includes all shipping costs and a four-year parts and labor warranty.

Financial Implications

Grant funding is available to purchase the proposed equipment.
