Consider appointment of a principal member to the STAR Transit Board of Directors for a term to expire on August 31, 2026.
Body
The City executed a supplemental agreement with STAR Transit on September 13, 2021, for STAR Transit to operate transit services in Mesquite. The STAR Transit Board bylaws provide for the City to have a principal and an alternate member on the STAR Board of Directors, which is comprised of seven Board Members who serve at-large.
The City Council has historically appointed a Councilmember to serve in the principal board member position, but there is no requirement for holding an elected office. Former Councilmember Debbie Anderson currently serves in Place 6 with Mark Kerby, Special Projects Director serving as the alternate member.
STAR Board members meet on the third Tuesday of each month. The current term will expire on August 31, 2027.

Staff recommends Council appoint a principal member to the STAR Transit Board.
