Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a Fiscal Year (FY) 2025-26 Agreement with the Dallas Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) to receive funds that provide meals for senior citizens, in an amount not to exceed $90,207.00.

Body

The Dallas Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) is a department under the umbrella of the Community Council of Greater Dallas responsible for planning, advocating, coordinating resources and providing services for seniors (persons 60+). It is part of a national network administered by the Federal Administration on Aging and funded under the Older Americans Act. The Act provides grant funds to states, area agencies, and local agencies to ensure the needs of seniors are met through the provision of nutrition and other community services. Through the use of these grant funds, the Parks and Recreation Department is able to provide meals, five days a week, to participants in the Adult 50+ programs at both Evans and Goodbar Senior Centers.

Financial Implications

The total budgeted expenses for the contract year are $104,273.00. The difference between the grant amount of $90,207.00 and remaining balance of $14,066.00 is met through the salaries of the recreation staff administering the Adult 50+ program and any donations collected from lunch participants.

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute a FY2025-26 Agreement with the DAAA to provide meals to senior citizens.
