Title

A resolution supporting the reconstruction of US Highway 80 in Mesquite and authorizing the City Manager to execute an Agreement to Contribute Right-of-Way Funds estimated at $651,000.00 with the Texas Department of Transportation for highway improvements on US Highway 80 from IH 30 to east of Belt Line Road (Sunnyvale Town Limits).

Body

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has completed the preliminary design and right-of-way documents and is ready to proceed with right-of-way acquisition and utility adjustments for the reconstruction of US Highway 80 in Mesquite. The City is required to contribute 10 percent of the estimated right-of-way acquisition costs for property acquired along US Highway 80 which is estimated at $651,000.00 and approve a resolution supporting the project.

This project will reconstruct the US Highway 80 and IH 635 interchange, improve access throughout the corridor and reconstruct the interchanges at Gus Thomasson Road/Gross Road and at Galloway Avenue. TxDOT anticipates having the project ready to advertise in 2022.

TxDOT breaks this overall project into three segments with three separate agreements:

IH 30 to Town East Boulevard - CSJ 0095-10-056

Town East Boulevard to Belt Line Road - CSJ 0095-02-122

Belt Line Road to Sunnyvale Town Limits - CSJ 0095-02-123

Funding for the City’s 10 percent share has been allocated from General Certificates of Obligation (CO’s) with $110,000.00 programmed in FY 2020 and $541,000.00 in FY 2021.
