The City Council reviews and approves the number of Civil Service positions/ranks in the Mesquite Fire Department (MFD).
Attached is an ordinance for Council’s consideration regarding the MFD’s authorized positions for Fiscal Year 2024-25. These numbers have been reviewed and confirmed as accurate with the MFD and Budget Department. The numbers include the addition of four (4) new positions as approved in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Budget. This year’s ordinance also includes a provision authorizing the City Manager to hire five (5) additional firefighters over the authorized amount as staffing may require.
