Receive briefing regarding the tethering of animals within the City of Mesquite.
Body
Staff was directed by the City Manager to research and recommend changes to Chapter 4 of the City Code regarding the tethering of animals. Staff will provide an overview of the existing Code and present staff recommendations to update the Code with the focus of pet care in our community.
Staff will seek City Council input and direction on proposed ordinance changes outlined in the presentation. Additionally, a public input meeting will be held on March 22 to gather citizen input regarding any proposed changes or recommendations for Council consideration.
Staff will then compile the results from the public input meeting and any direction from Council, and will return to the City Council next month with recommended changes to the Code.
