Title
A resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Dallas for Pipeline and Ancillary Projects.
Body
The Interlocal Agreement establishes the terms and conditions under which the City of Mesquite and the City of Dallas may construct water transmission infrastructure within each other’s corporate limits.
Mesquite’s Barnes Bridge Pipeline Project includes construction of a 30-inch water transmission pipeline and 4-inch fiber conduit within the City of Dallas. The pipeline will provide a contingency connection to convey treated water from the Barnes Bridge Pump Station to Mesquite’s water distribution system, providing additional system reliability and redundancy in the event of an emergency.
Dallas’ Southwest Water Transmission Pipeline Project includes construction of a 120-inch water transmission pipeline within the City of Mesquite. The pipeline will generally extend along Lawson Road from south of IH-20 to Berry Road, along Berry Road to Faithon P. Lucas Sr. Boulevard, and along Faithon P. Lucas Sr. Boulevard to the Union Pacific Railroad. The pipeline will convey treated water from the East Side Water Treatment Plant in Sunnyvale to the Summit Ground Storage Tanks in Cedar Hill, serving Dallas’ southern service area while improving system redundancy and increasing capacity for current and future customer cities.
The Interlocal Agreement also establishes provisions for the use of existing public rights-of-way and the acquisition of easements and other property rights necessary for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the respective projects.
