Consider appointment of one member (Position No. 2) to the Personnel/Trial Board for a term to expire December 31, 2028, and confirmation of appointment by the City Manager to serve as a member of the City of Mesquite Firefighters’ and Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission.
Body
The City Charter, Article IX-A, establishes a three-member Personnel/Trial Board appointed by the City Council. Each member of the Board serves a three-year term.
Additionally, the Texas Local Government Code, Section 143.006, establishes a three-member Civil Service Commission appointed by the City Manager and confirmed by the City Council. Members serve staggered three-year terms. By practice, the City appoints the same individuals to both the Personnel/Trial Board and the Civil Service Commission.
