An ordinance providing funds for the 2026-27 Fiscal Year by adopting and approving the budget for said period and appropriating and setting aside the necessary funds out of the general and other revenues of the City for said fiscal year for the maintenance and operation of various departments and activities of the City, for capital and other improvements of the City and for all other expenditures included in said budget.

The attached financial schedules represent the City of Mesquite’s proposed plan of operations for Fiscal Year 2026-27 commencing October 1, 2026, and ending September 30, 2027. This plan of operations is the result of numerous City Council/Staff strategy presentations, discussion and opportunities for citizen input on the proposed budget. The estimated property tax revenue in this budget is staff’s estimate of the amount that would be received at the voter-approval tax rate.
After closing the public hearing, the City Council must vote to either adopt the budget at this meeting or postpone adoption of the budget to the next Council meeting, which is scheduled for September 8, 2026.
