All channel areas with concrete, rip rap, or paver surfacing shall receive spot treatment for any weeds and grass as needed. Herbicide treatment generally includes the bottom, sides, and banks to the limits of the rights-of-way or easement. In the event that privately owned walls, fences, terraces, or other appurtenances border the ditches or channels, the treatment shall extend only to these appurtenances.

While drainage channels can be present in many forms, the most commonly utilized within the City are earthen drainage channels and concrete drainage channels. Proper maintenance of drainage channels provides many benefits including:

* Reduced flooding risk
* Reduction of standing water
* Resident expected aesthetics
