The Blackwood Park playground, located on Eastbrook Drive was originally constructed in the early 2000’s and has surpassed its useful life. The equipment is deteriorating, and replacement parts are difficult to find. The Parks and Recreation Department maintains a playground assessment summary, ranking playgrounds based on age and condition. Blackwood was ranked in fair condition, indicating the need for replacement.  In addition to a new playground, the safety fall surface will be upgraded to artificial turf, ensuring the area is accessible to all abilities.

The Burke playground equipment was selected through local supplier, Child’s Play, Inc. The City has previously used this supplier and manufacturer for several playgrounds. They provide a full turnkey service, including site preparation and installation of the equipment and safety surface.

Child’s Play, Inc., was selected in accordance with the terms of the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative Contract No. 781-25, Vendor No.1501.  Installation is anticipated to be completed by Fall of 2026.
