Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute an Interlocal Agreement with the University Emergency Medical Response on behalf of University of Texas at Dallas to provide emergency medical services education and training in the classroom and through internship shifts to Mesquite Fire Department employees.

 

Body

The City of Mesquite Fire Department (MFD) and the University Emergency Medical Response (UEMR) request to enter into an agreement to provide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training for the MFD. UEMR will provide classroom training and MFD will provide internship ride outs for students. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) requires one 24-hour ride out. Paramedic students require ten 24-hour ride outs. The MFD has partnered with UEMR to provide EMT training for many years.

 

Financial Implications

There will be no financial impact to the City.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute an agreement with UEMR.
