The City Council reviews and approves the number of civil service positions/ranks in the Mesquite Fire Department (MFD).
This ordinance is regarding the MFD’s authorized positions for Fiscal Year 2023-24. These numbers have been reviewed and confirmed as accurate with the MFD and Budget Department. The numbers include the addition of fourteen (14) new positions as approved in the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Budget. This year’s ordinance also includes a provision authorizing the City Manger to hire five (5) additional firefighters over the authorized amount as staffing may require.
