Bid No. 2024-013, South Parkway Reconstruction (U.S. 80 To Peachtree Road), with DDM Construction Corporation was approved by the City Council on November 20, 2023, in the amount of $16,709,550.00. Change Order No.1 was executed on February 21, 2025, in the amount of $219,206.21. Change Order No. 2 will result in an increase of $317,210.00 to the overall construction cost for a total amount of $17,245,966.21.
This change order was necessitated due to three cost overruns. The first was required to mitigate additional severe creek bank erosion that was not anticipated during the initial design. The second and third cost overruns were associated with an attempt to save more of the existing trail network during the construction process. In the course of construction, the proximity of the trail to the roadway reconstruction, damaged the existing trails at no fault of the contractor. The additional cost is to remove and replace these additional sections of concrete trail at the site that are in poor or deteriorated condition.
Financial Implications
Funding for this Change Order is provided by the FY-25 Drainage Utility District cash projects fund.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to execute Change Order No. 2 to Bid No. 2024-013, South Parkway Reconstruction (U.S. Highway 80 to Peachtree Road).
