Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a One to Four Family Residential Contract with Rosemary Lopez f/k/a Rosemary Lara and San Juanita Saldana for the City’s purchase of real property located at 2436 Lindale Lane, Mesquite, TX 75149 for $250,000.00.

 

Body

The Seller has agreed to the voluntary acquisition of 2436 Lindale Lane, Lot 22, Block 2, Edgemont Park Addition.  The City negotiated the accepted offer price of $250,000.00.

 

Historically, the Property has been subject to a high volume of concentrated runoff, which enters the south side of the Edgemont Park subdivision and travels across the Property towards Lindale Lane, causing numerous property damage claims. Current runoff volume and subdivision grading make it impractical to improve the drainage condition of the property. The primary purpose of voluntarily acquiring flood-prone properties for future drainage projects is to reduce flood risks and damage and improve the functionality of existing drainage systems.

 

Financial Implications

Funding for this purchase will be provided from the Capital Projects Reserve Fund.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute a One to Four Family Residential Contract with Rosemary Lopez f/k/a Rosemary Lara and San Juanita Saldana.
