The City of Mesquite’s city limit and extraterritorial jurisdiction extends into Kaufman County. The area commonly called Trinity Pointe is entirely within the boundary of Forney Independent School District (FISD). As the City develops commercial and residential properties in this area, City Staff often works with FISD to ensure development is a quality that supports the district and allows for better planning for the districts growth.
Forney ISD is in a period of significant growth. To meet the needs of the District and the City, it is essential that the City and District have a cooperative relationship. This model has worked for the City and Mesquite Independent School District for several decades.
Dr. Justin Terry, Superintendent of Forney ISD will provide a briefing to the City Council about FISD and their current growth projections.
