This project is intended to address longstanding drainage concerns for the Edgemont Park area. The ongoing drainage issues are partly due to aged and outdated infrastructure that is incapable of handling the stormwater demand.
This project is to construct drainage improvements throughout the Edgemont Park subdivision. The improvements will consist of a combination of reinforced concrete pipe, reinforced concrete boxes, and various size curb inlets. The McWhorter Park channel will receive erosion protection improvements, including a concrete channel, gabion mattresses, and a reinforced concrete box culvert to repair the pedestrian bridge. This project will also include 8,000 square yards of 8-inch street concrete pavement reconstruction and sidewalk and curb ramps in areas directly impacted by the drainage improvements. There will be additional roadway improvements for this area, under a separate project, once the drainage improvements are complete.
Bid notices were broadcast through the BidNet Direct electronic procurement system, posted on the City's website, and published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper. A total of five responsive bids were received. Staff has reviewed their qualifications and recommends award of the base bid to Estrada Concrete Company, LLC.
Financial Implications
This project is funded with Drainage Utility District cash and bond proceeds and is included in the FY2025 Capital Budget.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends that the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute a contract with Estrada Concrete Company, LLC.
