The Mesquite Convention Center is an approximately 92,000-square-foot facility adjacent to the Hampton Inn and Suites at 1700 Rodeo Drive. The building was constructed in 1998 and during the last five years has experienced several roof leaks in the ballroom, back office, and Exhibition Hall sections. The City of Mesquite requested proposals from qualified roofing companies for either roof refurbishment, replacement, or a combination of refurbishment and replacement to provide a cost-effective watertight roofing system that can be warranted for approximately 10 years.
Bid notices were broadcast through the Periscope Holdings electronic bidding system, posted on the City's website, and published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper. A total of eight proposals were received. Staff has reviewed the bidder's qualifications and recommends award of the bid to SL Nabors Construction Management, LLC.
SL Nabors is proposing a new Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) membrane overlay on the ballroom and meeting room side of the building, and a Carlisle SeamesSEAL Ultra HSLV coating application over the roof on the Exhibit Hall side. The product warranty for the TPO roof is 15 years and 10 years on the coated roof. The labor warranty from SL Nabors is two years for both roofing products.
Financial Implications
