A resolution ordering a Special Election on November 2, 2021, for the purpose of submitting a proposed tax rate that exceeds the voter-approval tax rate for the 2021 tax year.

 

Body

Texas Tax Code § 26.07 provides that if the City Council adopts a tax rate that exceeds the voter-approval tax rate, the registered voters of the City at an election held for that purpose must determine whether to approve the adopted Tax Rate and that the City Council shall order that the election be held in the City on the uniform election date prescribed by Texas Election Code § 41.001 that occurs in November of the applicable tax year.

 

It is necessary that the City Council order a Special Election to be held on November 2, 2021, for the registered voters of the City to determine whether to approve the adopted tax rate for tax year 2021.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
