Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute an Interlocal Cooperative Agreement with the City of Garland for construction obligations and understandings to a segment of the Duck Creek multipurpose trail.

 

Body

The City of Garland is proposing construction of a section of trail called the Duck Creek Trail Connection within a portion of the City of Mesquite.  Garland will be responsible for construction of the trail and provide a connection to the exiting Mesquite/Garland Connector of the Mesquite Heritage Trail.  The City of Mesquite would be responsible for maintenance of the section of trail within the city limits.  The proposed Interlocal Cooperation Agreement outlines construction standards and maintenance responsibilities. 

 

Financial Implications

The City of Garland will be responsible for all construction costs associated with this section of trail.  Future maintenance of the portion of trail within the city limit will be the responsibility of the City of Mesquite. 

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute an Interlocal Cooperative Agreement with the City of Garland.
