This contract covers the construction of 1.68 miles of La Prada Drive, including ≈ 60,000 square yards (SY) of concrete pavement over flexible base, 5,500 SY of concrete trail, 4,500 SY of sidewalk, and 5,000 SY of driveway. The project includes traffic signal improvements at three intersections, installation of additional box culverts, water lines, and gravity sanitary sewer, and reconstruction of the lift station.

 

This project is anticipated to begin in January 2026 and to be completed by January 2028.

 

Bid notices were broadcast through BidNet Direct electronic procurement system, posted on the City’s website, and published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper.  A total of seven responsive bids were received.  A low responsive bid of $33,930,863.59 submitted by McMahon Contracting, LP.  One bid from Estrada Concrete Company, LLC was declared non-responsive and rejected by Purchasing.

 

Staff has reviewed the qualifications and recommends award of the base bid to McMahon Contracting, LP.

 

Financial Implications

Funding is allocated from general Certificate of Obligation bond sales, water and sewer bond sales, and funding from the Dallas County Major Capital Improvements Program (MCIP).  Dallas County will provide 50 percent of eligible paving and drainage items not to exceed approximately $8,400,000.00.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends that the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute a contract with McMahon Contracting, LP.
