Authorize the City Manager to finalize, execute and administer an agreement with the Federal Highway Administration for Safe Street for All (SS4A) Grant to the City in the amount of $256,000.00 for the purpose of traffic safety improvements, and approve the contribution of City funds for this project in the amount of $64,000.00.

 

Body

The agreement between the United States Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration and the City of Mesquite provides a Safe Streets for All Grant.  This grant will assist the City in creating a long-term plan to address safety needs based on crash data, public input, reporting and tracking the crash reduction in fatality and serious injury that will improve transportation through the City.  The total project cost is $320,000.00.  The City share will be 20 percent of the total cost, in the amount of $64,000.00.  The SS4A grant amount will be $256,000.00.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize, execute and administer an agreement with the Federal Highway Administration.
