An ordinance establishing the classifications and total number of authorized positions in each classification of the Mesquite Police Department as of January 1, 2024.

 

Body

The City Council reviews and approves the number of civil service positions/ranks in the Mesquite Police Department (MPD).

 

This ordinance is regarding the MPD’s authorized positions for Fiscal Year 2023-24. These numbers have been reviewed and confirmed as accurate with the MPD and Budget Department. The numbers include the addition of four new positions as approved in the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Budget. This year’s ordinance also includes a provision authorizing the City Manager to hire five additional police officers over the authorized amount as staffing may require.
