Consider appointment of the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Mesquite, Texas, effective November 13, 2020, and authorize the Mayor to execute an employment agreement between the City of Mesquite, Texas, and Municipal Court Judge.
Body
According to the Charter, the City Council appoints the Municipal Court Judge position. Current Municipal Court Judge Steven Crane has submitted his resignation in order to retire from the City. The City posted the position to seek qualified applicants and the Council conducted an interview of a potential candidate in Executive Session on September 28, 2020.
The current term of the Municipal Court Judge will expire on April 1, 2022. The Council, by contract, will appoint a new judge effective November 13, 2020, to continue the current term.
