Consider appointment of three Regular Members (Position Nos. 1, 3 and 5) and one Alternate Member (Alternate No. 1) to the Board of Adjustment/Airport Board of Adjustment for terms to expire December 31, 2027, and one Alternate Member (Alternate No. 2) for a term to expire December 31, 2026.
Body
Currently, the Board of Adjustment (BOA) has four vacancies - Regular Member (Position Nos. 1 and 5) and Alternate Member (Alternate Nos. 1 and 2). Regular Member Andrew Williams (Position No. 3) is eligible for reappointment and has agreed to serve another term, if appointed. All members serve alternating two-year terms with a limit of three terms.
Alternate members shall attend at least one meeting every six months.
The Board of Adjustment consists of five regular members and two alternate members appointed by the City Council. The Board is charged with the responsibility of hearing requests for variances, special exceptions and appeals from staff interpretations of the Zoning Ordinance.
Members of the Board of Adjustment also serve on the Airport Board of Adjustment, which is required under State law to address zoning regulations and specific land use issues associated with the Mesquite Metro Airport.
