Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a Professional Engineering Services Contract with Binkley & Barfield, Inc., for the survey, engineering design and preparation of bidding and construction documents for the installation of large water valves and other water and sewer adjustments at various locations in the amount of $80,500.00.

This project will provide the design and preparation of construction documents for the installation of large water valves and other water and sewer adjustments at the following locations:
• Site 1: 2500-2600 Block of Northview Drive - Remove 2” threaded outlets on 24” RCCP on Northview Drive between Motley Drive and Baker Drive.
• Site 2: 1425 Gross Road (Gross Road west of IH 635) - Install 24” valve on 24” RCCP water main on west side of IH 635 at Gross Road.
• Site 3: 1325 Gross Road (Gross Road west of IH 635) - Install 24” valve on 24” RCCP water main on west side of IH 635 at Gross Road.
• Site 4: 1135 Gross Road (Gross Road east of IH 635) - Adjust 24” RCCP water main and replace section of sanitary sewer on east side of IH 635 at Gross Road.
These adjustments will allow for greater flexibility in the operation and maintenance of the water distribution system.
Binkley & Barfield, Inc., was selected for water and wastewater focused projects through the City’s formal Request for Qualifications completed in February 2020, which will be used for a variety of engineering services over the next three to five years.
Financial Implications
This project is budgeted for with Water and Sewer funds.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with Binkley & Barfield, Inc.
