An ordinance amending Appendix D - Comprehensive Fee Schedule, Article XIV (Public Works) of the City Code revising fees regarding Public Works Engineering Inspections.
Body
The proposed ordinance would revise fees and the calculation of said fees to comply with House Bill 3492 passed by the 88th Texas Legislature which prohibits permit fees based on the value of construction. The proposed Engineering inspection fee rate is based on estimated cost of inspection relative to amount of site improvements from basic construction quantities.
The current Engineering Inspection Fee is 4 percent or 1 percent of actual cost of the site improvements depending on the type of improvement.
The proposed Engineering Inspection Fees are as follows:
Base Fee (all sites) - $1500.00
Grading Improvements - $0.02/square-foot (SF)
Street Paving Improvements - $0.30/square-foot (SF)
Other Concrete Improvements - $0.30/square-foot (SF)
Screening Wall Improvements - $0.30/square-foot (SF)
Retaining Wall Improvements over three feet in height - $0.30/square-foot (SF)
Drainage Improvements - $1.20/linear-foot (LF)
Utility Improvements - $1.20/linear-foot (LF)
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the ordinance.
